Cultivating Heart Centered School Communities
Dr. Christine Mason, CEI Executive Director, and Dr. Michele Rivers Murphy and Dr. Yvette Jackson cowrote a book entitled, Mindfulness Practices: Cultivating Heart Centered School Communities Where Students Focus and Flourish, promoting ways educators can uplift students through mindful breathing, yoga, meditation, and instruction in classrooms while building caring, kind, compassionate schools.
Based on CEI’s Heart Centered Education®, Mindfulness Practices explains through research the influential power mindfulness can have on reducing trauma and how this can positively affect a school’s climate and culture. Teachers will find practical exercises to increase their own mindfulness as well as a variety of easy-to-implement exercises to reduce their students’ stress and increase their alertness and readiness to learn.
The book also covers in-depth ways in which implementation of mindful leadership can empower educators and students alike to be more aware and compassionate towards one another. Mindfulness Practices will be released mid-October 2018 by Solution Tree Press, Also available at Amazon.
