Use Smart Phones to Teach Math. A research base d approach (Project K-Nect) in North Carolina that has resulted in improvement in Algebra scores. While students are issued smartphones, the text and voice capabilities are modified so students are able to use the phones only text for specific purposes. They are able to instant-message anyone participating in Project K-Nect, including students at other schools. Some students have created blogs, movies, and graphics. The CSI theme has become popular, with math used to help solve crimes. Students and teachers have expanded the project to other subjects and enthusiasm remains high.
