Mindfulness Practices: Cultivating Heart Centered School Communities Where Students Focus and Flourish promotes ways in which educators can uplift students by implementing mindful breathing, yoga, meditation, and instruction in classrooms, and building caring, kind, compassionate schools. Based on heart centered learning, Mindfulness Practices explains through research the influential power that mindfulness can have on reducing trauma and how this can positively affect a school’s climate and culture. Teachers will find practical exercises to increase their own mindfulness, as well as a variety of easy-to-implement exercises to reduce their students’ stress and increase their alertness and readiness to learn. The book also covers in-depth ways in which implementation of mindful leadership can empower educators and students alike to be more aware and compassionate towards one another. Developed by authors Christine Mason, Michele Rivers Murphy, and Yvette Jackson, Mindfulness Practices will be released mid-September by Solution Tree Press.
